All Tanning Beds are not Created Equal
While all tanning beds may look similar, there are very big differences between the various types of equipment and the manufacturers of that equipment. When we set out to open South Jersey's premier, luxury tanning spa, we knew that the most important thing a tanning bed or booth should do, was tan. Without getting into the boring, technical aspects of equipment design, we wanted to make sure that we only purchased our equipment from manufacturers with stellar records for superiour UV output, and thus real tanning results.
Tan Faster, Stay Tan Longer
Traditionally, tanning equipment has made use almost exclusively of low pressure lamps. However, in recent years high pressure facial lamps have become commonplace and now some high-end beds are exclusively high pressure, both in the bench and in the canopy of the bed. But what is high pressure and how is it different to low pressure? The technical answer is somewhat anti-climactic: the air inside a low pressure lamp is a vaccuum, while the air inside a high pressure lamp is pressurized. That's it... nothing too technical. However, the benefits of high pressure lamps to you, the tanner are anything but ordinary. High pressure tanning allows you to tan much more quickly and maintain that bronzed look much, much longer.
Do You Believe in Magic?
Our signature piece of equipment is the Magic from Sun Italia, the most powerful piece of tanning equipment available anywhere... seriously. However, don't be fooled by it's muscle, as it is also our most gentle piece and capable of tanning almost anyone for a near full 12 minute session regardless of skin type or how tan they are already. Although the Magic arrived from Italy as an absolute tanning super star, we didn't stop there. Upon arrival, it was upgraded with new filter glass technology resulting in an improved version of the original: the bed is now even cooler and more comfortable, with even more bronzing power.
One session in the Magic provides the same amount of bronzing rays as about 5 or 6 sessions in a standard, low pressure bed. Imagine how much time, not to mention lotion you'll save by combining 5 or 6 visits into one comfortable, high pressure session. As if that were not enough, there is another tremendous benefit to tanning in our Magic: you will not lose your tan as quickly as if you were tanning in standard, low pressure equipment. Because only a very small percentage of the Magic's output is in the UVB range of the light spectrum, your body's natural 28 day exfoliation cycle is not interupted as it is with low pressure tanning. This, coupled with the fact that light from the high pressure lamps in the Magic reaches a few layers of skin deaper than standard tanning means that in addition to tanning much more quickly than normal... you'll also maintain your tan much longer than a tan that's achieved via standard low pressure tanning.
Power, Performance, Perfection
The rest of our equipment came to us via Germany. You've no doubt heard of the superiority of German engineering, and our equipment is no exception. Despite the fact that all of our equipment looks beautiful, each piece was designed to tan you comfortably. Many have high pressure facials that can be turned up, turned down, or turned off completely at any time during your session. Likewise, the cooling body fans can be turned down if you prefer basking in the warmth or turned up if a cooler experience is more to your liking. The choice is yours. What's Your Pleasure?
One final feature that truly sets Suncatchers apart, is our emphasis on providing you with as many options for your listening pleasure as possible. Every piece of equipment has been fitted with either a built-in sound system or is adjacent to a high fidelity wall speaker. At the press of a button each tanner has access to four distinct styles of music to enjoy during their tanning experience ranging from soothing spa music to the latest hits of the day. And we're not talking about regular FM radio reception here. This is digital DMX audio so you won't be stuck listening to car dealership commercials or static at Suncatchers. Although we set out to choose music options for all tastes, we knew that we couldn't please everyone as there are so many different types of music. So to insure that you can listen to the music and artists you prefer, most of our equipment is also fitted with an mp3 adaptor, allowing you to plug in your iPod or other player to listen to your music while you tan.
